Abstract
The introduction of RFID systems could lead to a real improvement in terms of efficacy and costs if compared to old barcode systems or other identification systems. A strong improvement is expected over the coming years in a wide set of application areas: goods logistics and traceability, pet or human identification, transport, healthcare and so on. Biomedical applications represent one of the most promising for future RFID developments, ranging from care giving to telemedicine [1]. Yet, in order to guarantee an efficient and large-scale introduction, a low-cost integration of RFID with a sensor network seems to be an effective must.
