Abstract
The requirements for armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) to move, fight and be protected all constrain the design and limit the scope for radar shaping. In order to achieve the low signature levels required to blend targets into the background clutter, radar absorbers have to be used. To meet the requirements for radar absorbing materials (RAM) for AFVs the concept of a family of materials was developed. The family covers coatings, flexible materials (textiles and rubbers) and structural materials. The potential applications for these materials are outlined
