Abstract :
Circuit breaker monitoring and diagnosis can aid in providing useful information on the condition of the circuit breaker, thus reducing costs by postponing unnecessary maintenance, with confidence that breakers are operating within normal wear limits. One of the methods used for circuit breaker diagnosis is known as the model-based diagnosis. For such diagnosis to be accurate, a model that imitates the performance of a real circuit breaker needs to be developed. The paper presents a circuit breaker model including both the mechanical and the electrical components. The model is developed in Matlab Simulink environment.
