Abstract :
On January 2, 2007, Donald G. Dudley, Jr., Professor Emeritus in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona, passed away. Professor Dudleypsilas career included work in industry, academia, at several National laboratories, and consulting. He was a world-renowned researcher in the areas of mathematical foundations of electromagnetic theory, applied mathematics, integral equations, borehole geophysics, inverse theory, and radar target identification. He was a distinguished contributor to the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and to URSI. He was Chair of U.S. URSI Commission B and was on the Adcom of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. He was a recipient of an IEEE Third Millennium medal through the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. Professor Dudleypsilas primary role was as an outstanding professor, but he was also an exceptional friend and mentor. His successes, leadership and experience were used to mentor generations of engineers and scientists throughout their careers. His active mentoring style has shaped the lives and careers of many of our colleagues who have in turn contributed to the engineering profession in many ways.
