Abstract
The authors highlight key issues needing to be addressed in development of a fully integrated third-generation mobile communication system featuring satellites and terrestrial links. These include terrestrial/space radio interface compatibility, access techniques, and the impact of space technology on network architecture. COST 227 is also to consider mobility management and resource allocation strategies
