Abstract :
A large part of the European RACE programme is devoted to development of an Integrated Broadband Communications (IBC) network, and a small part of the RACE Mobile Telecommunications project has investigated the feasibility of extending such a network to customers on the move. The vision of the Mobile Broadband System (MBS) is to provide a tetherless connection into the IBC network, and support a range of broadband services that cannot be supported either technically or economically by UMTS.
