Abstract
Various coordinate transformation comnonly encountered in the calculation of antenna radiation patterns are re-examined with an introduction of a new coordinate system, namely, polarization coordinate. The concept of this new coordinate, together with the familiar cartisian, cylindrical and spherical coordinates, enable one to relate components of a vector in one coordinate system to another more appropriately and manipulation. Consequently, the determination of field components in efficiently with out going through a series of tedious and complicated the reflector antenna design and analysis problem can be accomplished in a much simpler and direct procedure comparing to the conventional complicated coordinate transformation that generally involves a chain of lengthy matrix multiplications.
