Abstract :
Here we present the results of our experiments on the alterations that could provoke to the central nervous system long-term implants of sieve electrodes to the peripheral nerves. We studied the neural activity in the first relay station of the somatosensory system of up to 30 months implanted cats, our results showing that there are not significative alterations in the activity of the sensory neurons due to the implantation of the electrodes in the peripheral nerves.
