Abstract :
A conceptual framework for algorithm animation to modularize and simplify the animation design process is presented. The framework introduces the path-transition paradigm, a model consisting of abstract data types appropriate to create smooth, continuous image movement. An animation design language specifically intended to simplify the task of producing animations is introduced. The path-transition paradigm is composed of location, image, path, and transition data types. An algorithm animation system called transition-based animation generation (Tango) which is based on the framework is developed. Tango supports color, two-dimensional animation views within a workstation-based windowing system
