Abstract
The work of [W. Chen et al., (2002)], on quality of service (QoS) of failure detectors, assumes only mean loss as the system parameter to message losses. We deal with the QoS of failure detectors when the probabilistic behavior of messages is extended with the probability distribution of loss burst lengths. The proposed Markov chain model, which treats loss bursts, is presented. Some simulation results are commented.
