  • Abstract
In service discovery protocols for mobile ad hoc networks (Manets) assisting emergency search and rescue missions, a key problem is to keep the system operating despite the existence of faults. In this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant service discovery mechanism based on localization that considers the requesting node´s localization, the request response time and the maximum node speed to guarantee the delivery of packets in adversarial environments. Another issue addressed in this work is a service selection mechanism that applies information fusion in intermediate nodes to reduce the message replies in these networks. The mechanism dynamically selects the best resource providers during the reply transmissions. Results show that both mechanisms make it possible to maintain the tradeoff between the discovery success rate and the reduction in message replies, hence minimizing the network traffic and increasing the network lifetime.
