Abstract :
With the increase in the use of advanced technologies in products like aeroplanes and computers the performance of the cable harness has become critical. The cable harness needs to be designed as an integral part of the product and not as an after thought. The development cycle of the products has also shortened and there is an increased demand for a rapid design facility. The cable hardness design system described will assist the designer by providing the following facilities: theoretical tools and algorithms for computer-aided cable hardness design; the experience of experts; and a mechanism for sharing experience of the design process. CHD-RC improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the design process, concurrently with the computer-aided performance prediction process. It reduces the design specification search time, more importantly, it reduces dependence on experts and provides high quality information
