  • Abstract
Nuclear Electric is committed to the use of simulators to assist the training of power station operational staff. During the public enquiry into Sizewell B PWR power station a commitment was given to provide simulator training before the station was commissioned. Here, the authors describe how, in order to enable the training to be efficiently carried out, a full-scope, high-fidelity simulator has been installed in a new, purpose-built training centre located at Cliff Quay, Ipswich about 45 km from the station. In this context the term `full-scope´ implies that all plant systems controlled centrally are simulated and the term `high-fidelity´ signifies that the plant modelling is based in detailed physical models and is built up from the basic physics equations rather than being based on predetermined sequences
