Control room panels and associated equipment for the Sizewell `B´ PWR

The authors describe how the equipment and services supplied by Cegelec PiC to Nuclear Electric for the Sizewell B nuclear power station include various types of control room equipment in several locations, namely all the control panels and desks in the main control room (MCR) including the cables for connection of these panels and desks, the control panels and desk in the auxiliary shutdown room (ASR) and their cables, transition termination cubicles, cable trunking, and a number of items of equipment associated with control room panels. Overall there are 40 metres of control panel, 64 cubicles, about 3200 cables, and approximately 83000 ends terminated. All connections to control panels are by means of special unarmoured zero-halogen cables (soft cables) and these cables are terminated either in termination cubicles where there is a transition from these soft cables to armoured plant cables, or in multiplexer cubicles where connection to plant is via a highway
