Abstract :
A route has been described whereby a preliminary control system design was arrived at for the Sizewell B PWR. Graphical techniques have been used to demonstrate the existence of loop interaction, to evaluate the compensation required to remove that interaction and to demonstrate and evaluate any need for scheduling of control parameters with reactor power. Transient analysis has shown the beneficial effects of the compensation. The techniques described have been applied in developing controllers for all the main loops of the station automatic control system (SACS). The SACS has subsequently been further developed using the large nonlinear steady state and dynamic model SIBDYM
