Abstract :
A novel antenna mounted on a textile jacket is presented which arises from previous research work on metal button structures for wearable antennas. The antenna has the dimensions of metallic buttons used in denim clothing. The dimensions have been reduced compared to previously reported designs and this is achieved using dielectric material between two parallel metal plates and a displaced via connection. The antenna is dual band at 2400 MHz and 5200 MHz and is intended for wearable WLAN applications. The antenna was fed by coaxial feed line connected to the ground plane at the back of the denim jacket. The antenna achieves omni-directional radiation patterns required for transmission with other wearable devices located across the body
