Abstract :
A computer aided design (CAD) package FACET which models the electromagnetic effects of printed circuit board (PCB) layout is described. The theoretical approach, based on a lumped equivalent network, is summarised. All geometrical shapes commonly found on a PCB are included. Inductive and capacitive couplings between these shapes and ohmic and dielectric loss are included in the model. FACET is integrated with a PCB layout system and to circuit analysis packages.
