Abstract :
This paper reports a method to facilitate the inspection of underwater environment through enhancing images of moving subjects. A filter bank comprising of a higher pass filter and a narrow band low pass filter is developed to extract useful dynamic contents from the scenery, while retaining a background scene for masking random noise originated from various irrelevant sources. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method is capable of increasing the visibility of dynamic contents under heavy contamination of sediments and planktons.
