Abstract
In order to make up the limitations of High Level Architecture (HLA) specifications, and to achieve the full utilization of resources of analysis simulation federations, federate migration is among the most frequently used methods for load balancing and fault-tolerance. It researches six policies, namely, information policy, initiation policy, selection policy, location policy, acceptance policy and decision-making policy briefly and expounds on the initiation policy. It proposes the initiation policy based on the periodic load gathering of nodes and moving-average prediction. Different approaches for monitoring loads of nodes are explored and Load Monitor for Analysis Federation is developed upon the performance counter mechanism and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) query. Simulation experiment results show that the proposed initiation policy is flexible which can effectively avoid unneeded federate migrations, and the efficiency of analysis federation is improved to certain extent.
