Abstract
As a greater variety and combination of sensors are used, there is an increasing need for intelligent data fusion supported by concurrent processing. As yet, there is little relevant design experience with this technology. However, the Consensus project is producing a methodology that is directly relevant for such applications. The paper considers the nature of data fusion, describes the scope of the Consensus project and presents an overview of the initial version of the methodology
