Abstract :
Processes of control are gaining in importance in drive technology wherever some production process is to have its efficiency improved. The problem is the identification and measurement of losses in converters, the development of improvements and assessment of their success. In this context the measuring technician in the laboratory or testing room, in assembly or start-up operations, faces ever increasing problems. The author identifies these problems and discusses approaches to their solution. Experience shows that erroneous measurements are frequently incurred in this context because of a lack of problem-consciousness
