Abstract :
The development of a mapping and guidance database recorded on a CD-ROM for use in car navigation systems is described. Sumitomo Electric has developed digital maps for car navigation and car location systems, and an address and phone number database. This database is used to produce a CD-ROM which is used in the navigation systems available in Nissan Motor Co.´s Cedric, Gloria, and Cima models, and in Mitsubishi Motor Co.´s Diamante model
