Abstract :
Sky noise is highly anisotropic and well documented with maps available on-line. This sky noise can significantly affect radar sensitivity for radars with sensitive receivers. For ALTAIR at Kwajalein, the expected effect is as much as 8 dB. Documented changes of as much as 4 dB have been observed. The anisotropy of the sky noise can be used to calibrate receiver system noise.
