  • Abstract
Overlay networks have found widespread popularity in recent times, attributed mainly to their prerogative and productivity in multitude of networking areas, ranging from multicasting and packet routing to efficient object or resource location in a distributed environment. This paper explores the employment of overlay networks in ubiquitous computing environments, encompassing the design of an event management mechanism for ubiquitous entities. The devised architecture makes use of an existing DHT based structured overlay network and integrates it with CORBA to develop a decentralized event communication mechanism for ubiquitous environments. The contrived architecture emanates a completely decentralized, fault resilient and scalable event management mechanism.
