Abstract :
In this paper we presented a new type of directional coupled sectorial loop antenna. The principle of operation of the antenna is based on the utilization of the coupling between the two loops separated by a metallic sector, to obtain wideband impedance matching and, in order to obtain directional pattern, the radiation of one of the loops has to be suppressed by carefully selecting its sector angle and the corner reflector angle. The effects of the different dimensions of the antenna are presented and design tradeoffs were investigated. A sample antenna operating over the frequency band 1-6 GHz with VSWR < 2 was fabricated and measured. The measured results showed good agreement with the simulation results and verified the validity of our approach.
