Abstract :
In this paper, we demonstrate full-wave electromagnetic analysis results to show that curved surface slabs constructed from double negative (DNG) metamaterials have much stronger focusing effect compared to the conventional materials. We take advantage of this property to design a DNG lens antenna with the focal length as short as one wavelength. The proposed DNG structure is attractive in designing low profile lens antennas for microwave and mm-wave applications.
