Abstract :
The GUIDE (Graphical Ultrasonic Inspection Data Evaluation) Workstation has been developed for the interactive interpretation of digital ultrasonic data. It uses modest and portable computing facilities. Projections of the data from the component under test are displayed on the terminal screen, with the amplitudes of ultrasonic indications coded by both letters and colours at the appropriate positions. The user can interact with the system in a number of ways, for example, by zooming and panning and by changing the threshold level. GUIDE is capable of displaying data from a wide range of common component geometries. The use of GUIDE on site inspections and with modelling programs is discussed
