Abstract :
Telesensation is a concept that combines CV (computer vision), CG (computer graphics), VR (virtual reality) and telecommunications. Through this concept, an image of a nature from a remote place is instantly transmitted over high speed networks to a viewer and displayed stereoscopically there; the viewer can enter the scene, walk through it and touch the leaves on the tree. In the virtual space teleconferencing system, participants from remote locations, in reality their images, are brought together into a virtual conference room where they can hold a meeting as if they were gathered in a same place. This paper describes the virtual reality concept, its history and applications, telesensation, a virtual space teleconferencing system, the key technologies to accomplish it and future prospects.<>
