Abstract
A new receiver for time division multiple access (TDMA) network applications is described, which uses a InGaAs/InP PIN diode as an optoelectronic sampling gate. Error-free sampling of 2 Mbit/s data from a 64 Mbit/s 1.3 μm optical data stream at -23.5 dBm has been achieved. An in-band technique for timing signal provision is proposed and demonstrated
