Abstract
Until recently, the options available for collaborative working by teleconferencing have been limited. Developments in the public network such as the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) are now allowing the integration of electronic office services and communications services, and making these available as an on-demand service to every customer. The author explores the issues which have been involved in designing a multipoint, multimedia desktop conferencing system for use on the ISDN, i.e. MIAS, an ESPRIT project
