The following topics were dealt with: speech synthesis in augmentative communication; an intelligent transparent speech interface; personalised ADPCH speech playback devices; speech synthesis in CAL/CBT; integrated synthesis and controller device for speech I/O appls; an interactive synthetic speech generation; real time speaker verification; connected-word recogniser for small vocabularies; speech feature extraction; automatic speech recognition in control rooms; speaker-independent refutation based speech recogniser; the ARMADA continuous speech recognition system; and isolated-word sentence recognition using probabilistic context-free grammar
