Abstract :
Describes a stochastic speech recognition algorithm that is suitable for continuous operation with connected words, in which all the signal processing and pattern matching operations are performed in a single 6502 8-bit microprocessor. The only major components needed for this recognizer are a standard telephone codec chip for analogue to digital conversion, the microprocessor itself, 8 Kbytes of RAM and sufficient ROM to hold the program and word models. The cost in large scale manufacture is therefore expected to be much lower than other products intended for similar tasks
