Abstract :
A new wide band 180° hybrid coupler is proposed in microstrip line structure, which is easy to fabricate and suitable for microwave integrated circuits (MICs) and monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs). The hybrid consists of a Wilkinson power splitter and a short circuit stub 180° differential phase shifter. Due to the simplicity of structure, this circuit is easy to implement at very high frequency band. Based on the proposed configuration, a Ka-band (26.5 to 40 GHz) 180° hybrid coupler is designed and implemented on RF/duroid 5880 dielectric material. The phase variation of ±5° and the amplitude difference of ±0.4 dB were measured from 26.5 GHz to 40 GHz. The experiment verified the theoretical results favorably.
