Abstract
We present a new approach, in which a time-of-flight (TOF) camera is used instead of a conventional CCD camera. The TOF camera is based on photonic-mixer-device (PMD) technology. Every pixel acts as a lock-in detector which allows measuring both amplitude and phase of a modulated light signal simultaneously, while suppressing the background light. Consequently, high-resolution images with low THz field amplitudes can be obtained within seconds. This technique measures both the amplitude and phase, and hence can be used in coherent imaging applications.
