Abstract :
Practical implementation of three dimensional fast multipole method depends on the parameter settings include group number, multipole number and approximate integral. A simple formula is derived so that the accuracy and efficiency of the method versus parameters can be easily investigated. The guideline of the parameter setting is discussed and verified by numerical examples,
