Abstract :
Digital processor controlled systems can be susceptible to disruption of their normal operation by conducted or radiated radiofrequency interference (RFI). Often such systems are more prone to radiated and conducted electromagnetic (EM) emissions than their analogue counterparts. The author discusses the nature of the EM threats which must be considered by software designers and the mechanisms of their interaction with the system. Software features which improve a system´s resilience to RFI are also discussed. Finally, an approach to system testing is presented which will increase confidence that problems will be revealed
