Abstract :
This paper describes the experience of a UK local government highway authority in the quest to apply information technology to the task of network-wide data collection and management. The innovative techniques adopted have equal relevance for the construction of practical and consistent navigation databases. This paper also covers the development of such techniques for the collection of network attributes for route guidance and navigation systems.<>
