Abstract
High power linearly polarized corrugated waveguide mode converters have been developed to transform the high-order TE0n mode output wave from a gyrotron into the fundamental waveguide mode TE11 mode. The converter consists of rippled wall perturbations of a cylindrical waveguide. The bandwidth is predicted to be inversely promotional to the period number. A four-period TE03 /TE11 converter with azimuthal perturbations mc =1 has yielded a peak conversion efficiency of 95% and bandwidth of about 3%
