Abstract :
Multidimensional optical solitons in continuous Kerr media are unstable and prone to collapse. Several mechanism have been identified to prevent collapse like saturating nonlinearity, spatio-temporal aberrations, and nonlocal response. On the contrary, discrete optical system such as waveguide arrays can sustain the propagation of staAcircnot ble localized wavepackets both in space and time, even in the case of pure Kerr nonlinear media.
