Abstract :
The objective of this paper is to analyze the increase of container freight from Asia to North America. This study presents problems arising at the Port of Los Angeles and the Panama Canal, outlines the characteristics of both transpacific routes, the APEC corridor and the Rail Canal and compares the features of the Asia-Los Angeles and Asia-Rail Canal routes such as intermodal connections, distance and travel time. The intended conclusion is to show the advantages of the Rail Canal turning into an alternatively route for Asia-Los Angeles, Asia-Panama Canal or even Asia-APEC Multimodal Corridor and to value its importance as a new bridge to connect Asia and North America trade
