Abstract :
Work performed at ERA has successfully demonstrated the main individual components of a lightweight phased array for transmission or reception, namely a compact radiator, integrated amplifier, and efficient optical interconnections. Such a configuration forms an important precursor to versatile active arrays, which are likely to form the workhorse of the 21st century spacecraft, just as reflectors are for the 20th century
