Abstract
Discusses the operation of digital video effects (DVE) equipment. The first DVE equipment was developed from the digital component frame synchroniser. A digital filter can help to solve some of the processing problems, in that it can function as a low pass filter which removes the HF energy from the picture signal, before the size of the picture is reduced, thus removing the alias components from the final output. It can also be set up to delay the signal by a controlled amount, resulting in displacement of the picture in increment smaller than one pixel
