Abstract
For BT lightning protection means the limitation of damage to the network from the overvoltage interference appearing on the network. In the most part this involves protection of the local 2-wire analogue network between the exchanges and the customers. The paper discusses why they choose to protect the network, the causes of interference, how they protect, and finally looks at the future of telecommunications overvoltage interference
