Abstract :
This paper analyzes the impact of urbanization on Co2 emissions for energy in China. We treat urban proportion as an indicator of urbanization in the model while Co2 emissions for energy are calculated. The sample covers the period from 1980 to 2009. Granger test and VECM are introduced in present paper. Results show that urbanization Granger causes carbon emissions for energy in China. The relationship of urbanization and Co2 emissions for energy can be found in a long-run period but no such relationship in a short term.
