Abstract :
The duopoly review in the UK and the forthcoming review of the EC Green Paper on Telecommunications in Europe will provide the regulatory climate for increasing competition in telecommunications. Personal communications networks (PCN) is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this competitive market as it can provide the only technically credible alternative to the PSTN in the local loop, providing a quality, affordable and portable telecommunications service which will provide direct competition to the PTO monopoly in the local loop. The UK is at the forefront of these developments and Mercury Personal Communications has the strategic imperative to develop personal communications providing end to end Mercury service with its sister company, Mercury Communications. Mercury Personal Communications is working today to provide competition in the local loop
