Rotordynamic modelling for turbogenerator defect diagnosis

Defects in turbine rotors such as unbalances, bends, cracks and instabilities are diagnosed by the use of computer programs for rotordynamic modelling and by gathering together and validating data describing the shaft lines, oil film bearings and structural components of the relevant turbogenerators. The computer programs are based on those originally developed (Thomas 1972) and used for design calculations with only limited opportunities for experimental checks
