  • Abstract
    Power frequency electromagnetic fields (EM fields) interact with natural and pollutant aerosols in air by mechanisms that are deeply rooted in basic physics. This interaction, mediated principally by the electric field (E-field) component is readily demonstrated and the authors have suggested that the phenomenon may explain the epidemiological association between exposure to EM fields under power lines and the raised incidence of childhood cancer. This paper shows that, in summary, the interaction of E-fields with known and potential carcinogens in the air suggest that a link between EM field exposure and cancer incidence is plausible
