Abstract :
The radio loss in forest at UHF(2OO-2OOOMHz) is examined for the case that both the transmitter and the receiver are situated in the forest. Considering the scattering of the forest at UHF, the forest is representable as a four layered media with two anisotropic slabs to represent the tree trunk and foliage for the calculation of the direct wave, the reflected wave and the lateral wave. Numerical results reveal that the lateral wave is the dominant wave at UHF and the theoretical results are in good agreement with the available experimental data.
