Abstract :
Optical pulses, of which repetition rates are double that of modulation frequencies, were observed from novel monolithic mode-locked semiconductor lasers. Suppression of the fundamental component in gain modulation and enhanced second-harmonics is the origin of these double-frequency pulses.
