Abstract :
Adaptive arrays are being considered for use in commercial mobile communication systems. Base stations in these systems experience interference from multiple mobiles using the same frequency in different locations. This paper extends Ishide and Compton´s (1980) formulation for performance of an optimum beamformer with general element patterns to the multiple-interferer case. A modeling approach is devised and results are given for linear and circular arrays with omnidirectional and directional elements for two signal scenarios
